Fans without tickets enter Wembley Stadium for the Euro 2020 final between England and Italy

LONDON – Fans without tickets invaded the security past and gained access to the final of the European Championship between England and Italy on Sunday

Fans could be seen standing in the bowl of Wembley Stadium, unable to access their seats.

“There was a breach of security and a small group of people entered the stadium,” Wembley Stadium said in a statement.

Wembley said officials are working with administrators and security to remove ticketless fans.

“Anyone on the pitch without a ticket will be expelled immediately,” Wembley said.

An earlier Wembley statement said fans tried to enter the stadium through a low barrier, but that police and police were able to hold them back as they advanced.

The first statement said that “security measures were activated quickly in the relevant areas and there were no security breaches of people without tickets to enter the stadium.”

The 90,000-seat Wembley has a limited pandemic capacity of about 67,000.
